Heating Up and Cooling Off | Illustrated Graphical Abstract

Bringing Research to Life in an Illustrated Graphical Abstract: Did you know that homes that are too hot can be as big a problem as homes that are too cold?

I had the privilege of illustrating a graphical abstract with researcher Kimberley O'Sullivan for the Heating Up & Cooling Off research study. The study delves into how households manage indoor temperatures and the implications for well-being. My goal was to condense the comprehensive social research into a single clear, engaging visual —broadening the reach and comprehension of the research.

Researcher Kimberley O’Sullivan shared her perspective on the process:“For this work, having a graphical abstract designed is helping to convey both the findings and the implications of our research. This was quite exploratory social research and there is a lot to describe in text. The image distils a lot of information and draws viewers in with the different elements all working to explain the key ideas from the research results. I’ve showed to it a wide age-range of people and there is something here for everyone to learn and understand from.”

A big thank you to Kimberley and the research team for entrusting me with this project. It’s inspiring to see important research communicated in ways to connect with diverse audiences.
